Exchange Tips

Want to know all the command that related to specific keyword ?

Just type in EMS, example I want to know mailbox keyword.

get-excommand | where { $ -like "*mailbox*"}

and press enter, all CommandType will appears, very useful, right ? Open-mouthed smile



One of my customer ask me to set permission for public folder. I wonder why he couldn’t do it by himself, so the request is he want to set User A to become an Owner for every public folder and it sub folder! Disappointed smile

So I ran into Public Folder Management Console, and there’s no option to manage permission on the root folder, no way I want to set it manually for every folder, there’s ton on it Sad smile.

After searching, actually Exchange give one nice PS1 in it, its AddUsersToPFRecursive.ps1, its on the Scripts folder Smile

Here’s the complete command:

AddUsersToPFRecursive.ps1 –TopPublicFolder \ –User “Krisna Ismayanto” -Permissions Owner -Confirm:$False

You can change “\” into something else like \Marketing” , that’s it!, don’t forget to press Enter Smile with tongue out

I don’t know how the history, but my task is to re-create all Arbitration mailbox that no longer exists.

The first step is to run .\ /prepareAD


After that you will find 4 user in ADUC that have disabled status, you have to copy all the GUID, mine is like this:

  • DiscoverySearchMailbox {D919BA05-46A6-415f-80AD-7E09334BB852}
  • FederatedEmail.4c1f4d8b-8179-4148-93bf-00a95fa1e042
  • SystemMailbox{e0dc1c29-89c3-4034-b678-e6c29d823ed9}
  • SystemMailbox{1f05a927-b536-4dbb-9e08-dff2ecc40e1a}

Then you have to enabled it from EMS
